KNKX has always valued the recordings in our vast KNKX Studio Sessions series--these audio and visual recordings capture moments in the history and careers of artists and bands.From Chick Corea and Judith Hill, to up and coming regional creators, these time capsules are important in the lineage of their art forms.

KNKX hosted two studio sessions with composer-trumpeter Roy Hargrove at our Seattle studios which have become legendary and world renowned (one was recorded in 2017, a year before Hargrove’s untimely passing at age 49).No trumpet player of his generation has been more impactful and his legacy continues to resonate with fans around the world.

The exclusive songs from Hargrove’s KNKX studio sessions were never released on any of the artist’s albums. That’s why we’re so excited these time capsules are now being released as a digital EP by Hargrove's estate--Roy Hargrove: Live at KNKX. They reveal the emotional depth and spontaneity that made Hargrove one of the defining jazz voices of his generation--bridging bebop, soul, and groove with effortless authenticity.

Join us for a special KNKX benefit event on January 7, 7:30 p.m. at the Triple Door in Seattle, as we celebrate the EP's release. The event, hosted by Abe Beeson, features video on the big screen from the studio sessions, and members of Hargrove’s bands and family, sharing stories and memories about what makes these previously unreleased works so important in jazz. We'll share the video recordings from Hargrove's studio sessions on the big screen along with messages from his bandmates and heirs.

The evening caps off with a performance by the D’Vonne Lewis Trio (with trumpeter Owuor Arunga and bassist Evan Flory-Barnes) performing some of Hargrove’s music. A t-shirt with the album cover art will be available for sale at the event.

Annie Clark made her recorded debut as St. Vincent in 2007 with Marry Me, quickly becoming regarded as one of the most innovative and fascinating presences in modern music. Her subsequent albums would include Actor (2009), Strange Mercy (2011), her self-titled fourth album and winner of the 2014 GRAMMY for Best Alternative Album. In 2017, her fifth album MASS EDUCTION would break St. Vincent into the U.S. and UK top 10s and win two more GRAMMYs (Best Rock Song for its title track, and Best Recording Package). 2021’s Daddy’s Home found St. Vincent channeling the hungover glamor and gritty sepia-toned soundtrack of 1970s downtown NYC to an ecstatic reception, ultimately winning her a second Best Alternative Album GRAMMY. Following a 2021-2022 global tour that reaffirmed St. Vincent’s status as one of live music's preeminent forces with headline appearances at the likes of the Hollywood Bowl and Radio City Music Hall, Clark would begin work on album number seven: Her first fully self-produced album (having co-produced every one of her previous efforts)—and third Best Alternative Album GRAMMY winner—All Born Screaming is St. Vincent at her most primal. The album is equal parts spiritual desolation and rapturous acceptance.

St. Vincent’s earliest musical education began within her own family. Annie Clark is the niece of jazz duo Tuck & Patti—Tuck Andress (her uncle) and Patti Cathcart (her aunt)—whose artistry and discipline shaped her from childhood. As a teenager, Clark joined them on the road, absorbing their meticulous musicianship night after night. She even stepped into the role of tour manager, gaining early, hands-on experience with the realities of professional touring, band leadership, and the business behind the art. Those formative years offered her a rare apprenticeship in craft, creativity, and work ethic long before her own rise to global acclaim.

Tuck & Patti, meanwhile, have their own celebrated legacy. For more than four decades, the duo has captivated audiences worldwide with their intimate blend of jazz, soul, and acoustic virtuosity. Tuck Andress is revered for his innovative fingerstyle technique—often sounding like an entire band in one guitar—while Patti Cathcart’s expressive, unadorned vocals have become a masterclass in emotional clarity. Since their 1988 debut Tears of Joy, they’ve recorded extensively, toured internationally, and built a reputation as one of the most enduring and beloved duos in contemporary jazz.

When St. Vincent and Tuck & Patti share a bill today, it’s a rare meeting of lineage and legacy—a family connection woven through decades of artistry, mentorship, and musical evolution.

Supported by KNKX. The Blind Boys of Alabama are recognized worldwide as living legends of gospel music. Celebrated by The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and The Recording Academy/Grammy’s with Lifetime Achievement Awards, inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and winners of six Grammy Awards, they have attained the highest levels of achievement in a career that spans over 70 years. The Blind Boys are known for crossing multiple musical boundaries with their remarkable interpretations of everything from traditional gospel favorites to contemporary spiritual material by songwriters such as Eric Clapton, Prince, and Tom Waits. They have appeared on recordings with many artists, including Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Aaron Neville, Susan Tedeschi, Ben Harper, Patty Griffin, and Taj Mahal.

The Blind Boys released their latest album, Echoes Of The South, in August of 2023. It found the Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductees coming home to Alabama to record in Muscle Shoals. The eleven-song collection is a portrait of perseverance from a group well-versed in overcoming incredible odds - from singing for pocket change in the Jim Crow South to performing for three different American presidents, soundtracking the Civil Rights movement, and helping define modern gospel music as we know it. The album garnered three Grammy Award nominations, and won for Best Roots Gospel Album.

That win continued a run of Grammy Award nominations from the two previous years. In 2021, the group’s collaborative recording with Bela Fleck, I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free was tapped in the Best American Roots Performance category. In 2022, they garnered another nod for their collaboration with the band Black Violin on The Message in the Best Americana Performance category.

In March 2024, the definitive book on the Blind Boys of Alabama, titled Spirit of the Century, was released. It’s an insider history of America’s longest-running group and the untold story of their world, written with band members and key musical colleagues. Appearances on The View TV show and other major media outlets followed. After all these years, the Blind Boys show no signs of slowing down!

It was a landmark event and it was the start of a tradition that would continue year after year. “A Charlie Brown Christmas” is a tradition enjoyed around the world by fans of all ages. Now, over 50 years later, Contemporary Jazz Piano Legend, David Benoit along with distinguished Vocalist, Courtney Fortune, is paying tribute to this incredible piece of entertainment history.

This inspirational tribute concert features the classic music of Vince Guaraldi along with “Charlie Brown Christmas” originals from David Benoit, who took over the helm as music composer for the new Charlie Brown Christmas TV Specials more than a decade ago, as well as classics from David Benoit’s illustrious career as a Multi-Grammy Nominated Solo Artist. The heart-warming show is sure to get the audience in that Christmas Spirit and bring out the ‘kid’ in all of us this holiday season.

A “founding father” of contemporary jazz, Benoit has as wide-ranging musical resume as anyone in music. Influenced by jazz, Broadway, symphonies, and more, he has scored more than 20 chart-topping radio hits, created the wildly popular soundtracks for the Peanuts television movies, scored music for films produced by Clint Eastwood and Sally Field, and created themes for popular soap operas such as All My Children. He has collaborated with such diverse artists as The Rippingtons, Faith Hill, David Sanborn, and CeCe Winans, among many others as well as working with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Philippine Philharmonic. Having recorded over 40 albums, Benoit’s wide-ranging musical vision and talent has been one of the great stories of contemporary jazz.

Stroll through a glowing lineup of 100 brilliantly decorated cars that will light up the night in true holiday style. Swing by Santa’s Village at the Uptown Pavilion for games, treats, and plenty of kid-friendly cheer, and of course, grab a selfie with Santa himself! This free event supports the Gig Harbor Peninsula FISH Food Bank. We encourage attendees to bring donations of food, personal items, or new, unwrapped toys to the Pavilion.

Be sure to visit Santa’s Village for some holiday magic! Bring the whole family to meet Santa, share your Christmas wishes, and snap a special photo (our happy little elves will be there to help!). It’s a jolly evening of festive fun you won’t want to miss!

At the Lighted Car Parade/Santa's Village, Kiwanis volunteers will be collecting nonperishable food and new/unwrapped toys at a booth near the Uptown pavilion to benefit the FISH Food Bank from 3:00pm-6:00pm.

On February 5 and 6, 2026, the Music Discovery Center of Bremerton and Olympic College are proud to present the 2nd Annual Quincy Square Jazz Festival. With his discovery of music in Bremerton, Quincy Jones went on to be one of the most celebrated performers, producers, and promoters of Jazz and modern music in American history. From Bebop to Pop to Hip hop, Quincy has been on the forefront of musical innovation his entire career and the city of Bremerton is proud to honor him with Quincy Square, a brand new music promenade in downtown Bremerton on 4th Street.

This year, the Quincy Square Jazz Festival is expanding to welcome instrumental and vocal jazz ensembles from across the state to join us in a day of competition, education, and celebration. We’ll kick off on Thursday, February 5th with middle school jazz bands competing at Olympic College. On Friday, February 6th, we’ll switch to high school jazz bands at Olympic College and high school vocal jazz ensembles at Bremerton High School. The top three jazz bands and the top three vocal jazz ensembles will be invited to perform at the Quincy Square Jazz Gala on Friday evening, February 6th at the historic Roxy Theatre.

Our panel of skilled adjudicators will score and place ensembles and follow up with a clinic to mentor musicians. Each group will have professional sound and video recording provided at the conclusion of the festival.

Registration is open now and limited to 20 ensembles in each of the three categories. Spots are likely to fill fast!

Cory Wong is an American guitarist, songwriter, and producer based in Minneapolis. He has released many works as a solo artist and in partnership with others. His background spans several genres including jazz, rock, and funk. He has performed with Vulfpeck, Dave Koz, Stay Human, The Fearless Flyers, Ben Rector, Dr. Mambo's Combo, Chris Thile, and Dirty Loops. He released several albums in 2020, including Live in Amsterdam, a collaboration with the Metropole Orkest, and Meditations, a new-age album with Jon Batiste. His recent works include two albums released in conjunction with his variety show.
