Primary elections are fast approaching, and Democrats in some Western Washington races are facing early competition — from other Democrats.

Activists are gathering signatures for a ballot initiative that could strengthen enforcement of renter protections, in a follow-up to the 2023 “Tenant’s Bill of Rights."

Ballots are due on April 28. If passed, the bond would pay for capital improvements at about 40 locations over six years without increasing taxes.
