During this free community event, knowledgeable Seattle Aquarium naturalists will be stationed at four locations along the Cedar River in Renton and Maple Valley on select weekend days in October. Historical imagery, artifacts, sound and immersive design reveal a story shaped by brilliance, ambition, and endurance.

Join us this October as we celebrate the Seattle Squid’s 25th birthday! Floating above Pike Place Market’s Economy Atrium, this beloved sculpture often goes unnoticed by passing visitors. Much like the giant squid that inspired it, it can be surprisingly elusive.
On Saturday, October 3, meet the artist, Patrick Wickline, and learn the story behind this unique work of art. Enjoy artist demonstrations, educational activities from the Seattle Aquarium, and discover why the Seattle Squid has been delighting those who look up for the past 25 years.
Festivities begin at 11 a.m. in the Economy Atrium.
Celebrate Children’s Day with Lacey Parks, Culture & Recreation! This free, family-friendly event takes over Huntamer Park with a day of fun inspired by this year’s Mythical Creatures theme.
Kids can explore activity booths, shop creations from young local makers at the Children’s Market, dance inside the Dance Dome, take on the obstacle course and inflatable slide, enjoy live entertainment and more! Food trucks will also be onsite with food available for purchase.
Dress up as your favorite mythical creature and join us for an afternoon of fun!
Tacoma HONK! Fest is an accessible community music festival driven by the energetic performances of PNW street bands and cultural groups in public spaces. And it’s free of charge!
Instead of formal stages, bands will be performing right in the streets (and alleys). There will be ample space for moving and dancing around. The audience is always welcome to join in!
We encourage you to walk, bike, or take public transit to the festival. Feel free to walk (or dance) between the stage areas set up in the McKinley Hill business district.

We are delighted to offer a Danish Language Class in partnership with the Scandinavian Language Institute. This nine-week series will allow you to jump into the basics of Danish language and culture in a supportive, face-to-face classroom environment. Students will learn essential vocabulary, everyday phrases, pronunciation, and simple grammar structures through interactive activities, conversation practice, and cultural activities.
No prior foreign language experience is required; ages 16+.
What level is this class?DAN1A is for absolute beginners with little to no prior language experience.
