It also saw a rise in migration to US cities, providing workers to fill low paying jobs producing many of the fashions of the era. This era marked a turning point in fashion as new technologies and changing cultural norms transformed the ways in which people dressed.

Women jazz artists representing music from around the world, including Japanese artist Asayo Katano in a special Seattle premiere performance, will take the stage in “International Women in Jazz,” a special event co-presented by the Seattle-Kobe Sister City Association and Seattle Women in Jazz, at Seattle’s Royal Room at 2:00 pm on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025. Deseo Carmin (a band led by Stella Rossi that features a fiery fusion of Latin rhythms, soulful Jazz-Funk grooves, and the passionate spirit of Flamenco) and award-winning Jewish music composer Chava Mirel (a celebrated jazz and world music artist), both Seattle-based groups, will also perform. “International Women in Jazz” will take place Nov. 15, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at The Royal Room, 5000 Rainier Ave, Seattle. Pasquale Grasso - It was the kind of endorsement most rising guitarists can only dream of, and then some. In his interview for Vintage Guitar magazine’s February 2016 cover story, Pat Metheny was asked to name some younger musicians who’d impressed him. “The best guitar player I’ve heard in maybe my entire life is floating around now, Pasquale Grasso,” said the jazz-guitar icon and NEA Jazz Master. “This guy is doing something so amazingly musical and so difficult. “Mostly what I hear now are guitar players who sound a little bit like me mixed with a little bit of [John Scofield] and a little bit of [Bill Frisell],” he continued. “What’s interesting about Pasquale is that he doesn’t sound anything like that at all. In a way, it is a little bit of a throwback, because his model—which is an incredible model to have—is Bud Powell. He has somehow captured the essence of that language from piano onto guitar in a way that almost nobody has ever addressed. He’s the most significant new guy I’ve heard in many, many years.”

Released on their own Lettuce Records label, the band’s next studio album offers a menu of delights that marks a band exploring new sonic territory. For these six life-long partners, the new songs feel like a nourishing meal that entices all of your senses.
Like 2019’s Elevate, 2020’s Resonate and 2022’s Unify, before it, Cook was recorded at Colorado Sound just outside East Coast transplants Deitch, Smirnoff, and Bloom’s adopted home of Denver, where they gathered in one room to work on the new material. Ryan Zoidis did a masterful job mixing the final results with longtime Grammy-nominated engineer Jesse O’Brien.
Coming off tours with both rap icon GZA of Wu-Tang Clan and reggae legend Ziggy Marley while earlier this year releasing the live album and concert film Lettuce with the Colorado Symphony capturing over 90 minutes of collaborative symphonic arrangements with the Colorado Symphony, Lettuce has expanded its ever-widening musical palette again with the new release.
Echoes of the Floating World features a striking collection of 18th, 19th and early 20th-century Japanese woodblock prints from the Tacoma Art Museum and others, displayed alongside works by contemporary Northwest artists. This exhibition honors the rich legacy of ukiyo-e while exploring its cultural impact on today’s artistic expressions.
