The new Jazz Legacies Fellowship seeks to support seasoned jazz musicians ages 62 or older. Recipients receive a lifetime achievement award and an unrestricted $100,000 grant.

This week, a new fellowship was announced that granted 20 jazz musicians of retirement age a gift of $100,000 each.

On Sept. 25, friends and former students of Seattle jazz trombonist and composer Julian Priester will host a benefit show in his honor, in hopes they can return some of the love he’s given.
