The New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles face off in the Super Bowl on Sunday.
If you’re a Seahawks fan and still smarting from their 2015 loss to the Patriots in the Super Bowl, you may not think there’s a reason to watch. KNKX sports commentator Art Thiel has one. He talked with Morning Edition Host Kirsten Kendrick.
Local Tie
Thiel pointed out that the Eagles coach is from Western Washington.
"Doug Pederson grew up in the Bellingham area and was a star at Ferndale High School," he said.
"You have to like a guy who stars at Ferndale."
"So, if there's a tiny peg that you want to hang your Eagles hat on, it would be the local roots of Doug Pederson."
"He's a good guy and a good coach and he deserves a victory here. Howsomever, I don't think he's going to get it."
Prediction: Sixth Super Bowl Win For Patriots
"I think the Patriots are going to be behind at halftime something like 22-2," Thiel joked.
"And they're going to come back in the fourth quarter, as they came back against the Seahawks in the Super Bowl, as they came back against Atlanta."
"And it's going to be another insufferable Patriots win - something like 31-28."
