Mandela: The Official Exhibition explores the life of the world’s most famous freedom fighter and political leader. His epic journey is told in a series of experiential galleries, from his rural childhood home through years of turbulent struggle against the apartheid regime, to his eventual vindication and final years as South Africa’s first democratically elected president.
An immersive and interactive experience, the exhibition features previously unseen films, photos, and the display of historical artifacts and personal effects on loan from the Mandela family, museums, and archives worldwide. This unprecedented exhibition offers fresh insights into the people, places, and events that formed Nelson Mandela’s character and the challenges he faced.
MOHAI will also highlight Mandela’s 1999 visit to Seattle and present a look at Seattle’s role in the anti-apartheid movement, including the work of the Seattle Coalition Against Apartheid. Mandela recognized Seattle as one of the first U.S. cities to boycott South African goods.

Join South Sound Dance Access for this fun opportunity for creative expression, strength building, and connection. Creative Contemporary Dance is an open-level dance class for adults of all ages drawing primarily upon Modern and Contemporary Dance techniques. In this class we will learn fundamentals of modern dance technique and dance composition concepts. Well learn fun routines each week and have opportunities to create dances together!
AGES 8 to 18! Learn to play bagpipes or side drum (snare), tenor drum, or bass drumfound in Highland Pipe Bands . No experience required.
Pipe Band School is for any kids interested in learning Highland Bagpipes or Scottish Drumming. Kids will learn music fundamentals and instrumental skills in a fun and supportive environment with an opportunity to join the NorthWest Junior Pipe Band.
NWJPB is Washington State's only competitive Pipe Band. They participate at Parades and Highland Games throughout Western Washington and British Columbia, and travel to Glasgow, Scotland to compete at the Pipe Band World Championships every third year.

Now, Allied Arts brings this cherished tradition indoors with a special gallery exhibition featuring this year's winning entries alongside colorful artwork paired with memorable selections from past contests—creating a retrospective that honors both fresh voices and the rich poetic history of our community.
Visitors can immerse themselves in the complete experience through a commemorative anthology spanning ten years of winning compositions, alongside collections from celebrated local poets. Throughout June, the Whatcom Poetry Series will enhance your experience with engaging poetry readings and interactive workshops hosted in the gallery space.
