Never Turn Back: Echoes of African American Music unveils the profound legacy of Gospel, Blues, Jazz, and Soul artists who shaped the soundscape of American culture and used their music as instruments of resistance, identity, and representation.

Gospel, Blues, Jazz, and Soul embody the profound influence of African American music on culture and history. From the spiritual foundations and transformative movements of Gospel hymns to the revolutionary improvisations of Jazz, the Blues’ Southern roots rising from the Mississippi Delta, and Soul’s powerful amplification of the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements, these genres have defined the unique sound and undying spirit of a nation that continues to echo through contemporary Black music today.

This is a permanent exhibition. Since time immemorial, Tribal nations have existed in this place we call Washington. This Is Native Land invites visitors to understand Washington State through the lived experiences and voices of its Native people.

Tribal nations are sovereign nations. Today, Native history, culture, and community thrive in our state. Through everyday acts of sovereignty – big and small – Indigenous peoples demonstrate they are still here, they have persevered, and they will always be here.

This Is Native Land is guided by three teachings:
We are of the land and waters
With knowledge comes responsibility
Sovereignty protects people, lands, and waters

These teachings are shared through multimedia, artwork, and interactive objects designed for guest engagement. They represent a contemporary continuation of Tribal stories and traditions.

Over 100 Native contributors from more than 60 Tribes shaped the exhibition’s stories and content. We thank the Native Advisory Committee and all community participants for their contributions.

LeMay – America’s Car Museum proudly presents The Birth of the American Supercar, a groundbreaking exhibition guest curated by renowned automotive innovator Steve Saleen. This one-of-a-kind display invites guests on an exhilarating journey through the evolution of American supercars. From early speed pioneers to cutting-edge modern marvels, visitors will experience a stunning lineup of vehicles that have redefined engineering, speed, and style, built by a wide range of American automotive manufacturers like Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Saleen himself, and even some more obscure ones like Vector, Cunningham, and Hennessey. From roaring V8s to sleek carbon-fiber bodies, discover how American automakers pushed boundaries, challenged European rivals, and redefined what a supercar could be. This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to see some of the most thrilling and historically significant American-made performance vehicles ever built—all under one roof.

Glass vessels evocative of the highly ornamented Baroque style, black silhouettes embedded in scenes on ancient pottery vessels, and medallion reliefs of Black figures all abide in the deliberate, expansive practice of Jason McDonald. McDonald’s visual language is deeply rooted in research of ancient histories, traditional techniques, and race. Here, contemporary ideas blend and transform tradition with caring attention to detail, precision in thought, and beauty. Motivated by glass—with its magical properties, myriads of endless possibilities and potential—McDonald’s devotion lies in the desire to refine the craft, making his hands more familiar and knowledgeable with each replication. Through his repetition and re-imagination of these historical forms, the objects transform into sculptures and vessels of time, carrying with them the essence of centuries-old traditions, as well as McDonald’s commitment and insertion of the representation and notions of Black identity. With a commitment to the craft that transcends his own work, McDonald diligently carves out space for those who will follow him through mentoring and the creation of his own glass studio, which he has named Ideal Conditions.

"Migration," a multifaceted show exploring the movement of wildlife, people and ideas across the world, is open now. Artists Kate Flores, Mary O'Shaughnessy and Loran Scruggs of Port Townsend and Carolyn King of Tucson are presenting a variety of two- and three-dimensional creations. Their materials range from tin cans and bottle caps to embroidery, paint, cast glass and beyond. Northwind's gallery, at 701 Water Street in downtown Port Townsend, is open noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Mondays. More information awaits at NorthwindArt.org. This summer and fall, Seattleites are invited to rediscover Pike Place Market after dark. Beginning Friday, July 24, and continuing the fourth Friday of every month through October, Pike Place Market will debut The Night Shift, a free monthly evening series celebrating local art, music, food, and creativity after the daytime shoppers have gone home.

The Night Shift transforms Pike Place Market into an after-hours cultural hub where visitors can wander through open galleries, discover handmade goods, and enjoy food, drinks, and a beer garden, while experiencing live performances under the famous Public Market Clock & Sign.

Throughout the evening, The Rabbit Box will present live performances on the main stage alongside interactive art experiences and pop-up activations across the Market. Guests will have opportunities to connect directly with artists, musicians, makers, and small business owners while experiencing the creativity and community of Pike Place Market.

As part of the Downtown Seattle Art Walk, visitors can also continue their evening by exploring neighboring galleries throughout downtown.

The Night Shift is presented in partnership with the Seattle Office of Economic Development and The Rabbit Box, and as part of the Downtown Seattle Art Walk.

A beautiful way to experience the upper Snoqualmie Valley. Join the Northwest Railway Museum for Wine Train excursions featuring Snoqualmie Valley wineries, food, and scenic views! Guests receive a complementary souvenir wine glass with each ticket and each glass comes with 8 tokens to exchange for 1-oz tasting pours. The 2.5-3 hour program includes wine tastings at the Snoqualmie Depot and the Train Shed Exhibit Hall.

Visitors will receive 8 tasting tokens to spend on the wine varieties as they please.
Hors d'oeuvres will be provided by local Snoqualmie Valley businesses and the Museum encourages passengers to visit local restaurants after their excursion returns to the station.

Must be 21 or older. Ticket includes return passage to Snoqualmie.
Ticket time is time of departure, please arrive 30 minutes prior to departure for check-in and the first tasting opportunity. That is a 4:30 PM check-in time.

We are delighted to offer a Danish Language Class in partnership with the Scandinavian Language Institute.
This nine-week series will allow you to jump into the basics of Danish language and culture in a supportive, face-to-face classroom environment. Students will learn essential vocabulary, everyday phrases, pronunciation, and simple grammar structures through interactive activities, conversation practice, and cultural activities.

No prior foreign language experience is required; ages 16+.

DAN1A is for absolute beginners with little to no prior language experience.
