Satellite imagery helped map 2021 heat dome tree damage in Washington, Oregon

The heat dome of 2021 scorched an area of tree canopy in Washington and Oregon the size of Rhode Island. That’s according to a recent study from the College of Forestry at Oregon State University. At least one scientist in Washington wasn’t surprised.
