The Grammy-winning world-renown bassist Christian McBride was guest soloist with the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra in the season finale in June. The concert at Kirkland Performance Center was recorded for radio and highlights will air on Jazz Northwest on 88.5 KNKX on Sunday, July 2 at 2 p.m. Pacific, also streaming at knkx.org.

Christian McBride has played with dozens of top artists including Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Wynton Marsalis, Diana Krall and Joshua Redman to name a few. He frequently tours with his own trio and has appeared as sideman or leader on more than 300 albums. This performance with the SRJO includes several arrangements from his Grammy-winning big band album, "The Good Feeling." Christian McBride is also host of the NPR program Jazz Night in America, heard Friday nights on 88.5 KNKX.

There was more excellent music on this concert than could be accommodated in a one-hour program so several selections will be held over for next week. The Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra is co-directed by Clarence Acox and Michael Brockman and presents an annual series of five pairs of concerts in Seattle and Kirkland, with some concerts also in Edmonds. Jazz Northwest is recorded and produced by Jim Wilke exclusively for 88.5 KNKX and knkx.org. The program airs Sundays at 2 p.m. Pacific and after broadcast, programs may be streamed at jazznw.org.
