Capital City Chorus of Olympia's treble Chorale has been invited to sing the national debut of composer Joan Syzmko's 3-song cycle "It is Happiness," based on the work of Pulitzer poet Mary Oliver, on May 26, 2026. This benefit event will feature a concert, poetry readings, a silent auction, book sales by Browser's, a special wine pull, and small bites and beverages. All proceeds will benefit singers who cannot afford this trip to New York. Tickets are $11! Browsers Books is a proud sponsor of this event.

Fantastafunk (11 on stage):
Fantastafunk is Ana Popovic’s new exciting powerhouse funk & blues, rock & soul, gospel/r&b big band. It merges styles and is a fusion of Stax / Motown with contemporary guitar-driven grooves. Ana presents some of her songs delivered in a new way, and new songs made for this project, mixed with some great funk, soul, gospel and blues sounds and standards that people would love to hear again. The show is presented with 11 on stage: Ana Popovic on guitar and vocals, 3 vocalists, keys, bass, 2 drummers and 3 horns. Like all of Ana’s shows it will be a show to remember.
In 2024, the band was named “Best Blues Band” by the Washington Independent Music Awards and has amassed dozens of Best of the Blues honors from the Washington Blues Society. Their latest release, Family Christmas—the band’s ninth album—garnered international airplay and claimed the #1 spot on the December 2024 Roots Music Report charts.

Li - written by Wei He Directed by Christie Zhao. A comedy set in Inner Mongolia about a thief who gives away more than she gets, Li may have to reconsider her career choice. But along the way, she discovers a quirky cast of characters that make life just a little less lonely. This world premiere play with heart, humor and original music provides a glimpse into the lives of a thief, her family, an old lady she tries to steal from, plus a friend and his chicken.

His dynamic genre-spanning music has brought him to 21 countries on three continents – and still growing – performing in some of the world’s most illustrious venues, including the Sydney Opera House, Carnegie Hall, The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, New York’s Lincoln Center, The Blue Note, and the world’s oldest indoor concert hall, Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, Italy.

Pasquale Grasso - It was the kind of endorsement most rising guitarists can only dream of, and then some. In his interview for Vintage Guitar magazine’s February 2016 cover story, Pat Metheny was asked to name some younger musicians who’d impressed him. “The best guitar player I’ve heard in maybe my entire life is floating around now, Pasquale Grasso,” said the jazz-guitar icon and NEA Jazz Master. “This guy is doing something so amazingly musical and so difficult. “Mostly what I hear now are guitar players who sound a little bit like me mixed with a little bit of [John Scofield] and a little bit of [Bill Frisell],” he continued. “What’s interesting about Pasquale is that he doesn’t sound anything like that at all. In a way, it is a little bit of a throwback, because his model—which is an incredible model to have—is Bud Powell. He has somehow captured the essence of that language from piano onto guitar in a way that almost nobody has ever addressed. He’s the most significant new guy I’ve heard in many, many years.”

Widely regarded as one of the greatest concert films ever made, Stop Making Sense was directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Jonathan Demme and captures the energy of Talking Heads at the peak of their powers. Restored in 4K to celebrate its 40th anniversary, the 1984 film features unforgettable performances by David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Jerry Harrison, Tina Weymouth, and their incredible touring musicians. Filmed live at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater, the film includes the band’s most iconic songs.

Join MBT for a special public screening of this groundbreaking film, hosted by co-star and Talking Heads musician Jerry Harrison. This event features on-stage introductory remarks and post-screening commentary by Harrison, and an audience Q&A.

Harrison Clark's Mistaken for a Fault Vine is a live anthology in 3 parts, performed by FUGITIVE.

FUGITIVE is a fire-spitting experimental quartet based in New York City led by pianist and composer Jonathan Paik. Formed in 2023, the band brings together LA-born creative music standouts Paik, Mark Valdes (drums), and Shogo Yamagishi (bass), along with Seattle-born MC and vocalist Harrison Clark.
