KNKX host Abe Beeson delivered the proclamation on behalf of Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson at Wilke’s 89th birthday celebration at Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley on April 20.
Wilke hosted two longstanding KNKX programs: The nationally-syndicated “Jazz After Hours,” and “Jazz Northwest,” which featured live recordings he made of musicians in Seattle. He retired from radio in 2023.
