Seattle first responders can now give withdrawal medication during emergencies

The medication buprenorphine is well-studied as a long-term treatment for opioid addiction. It can also be right after a patient has been given naloxone to reverse the overdose.

KNKX reporter Gabriel Spitzer has details on how paramedics with the Seattle Fire Department will be given an opportunity to use this medication during emergencies.
