Special elections are set for April 22. You have until today to register in-person to vote.

Time is running out for new voters who want to register in time for special elections on April 22. In-person registration will be accepted until the end of the day today.

Among the biggest contests is a King County question about raising vehicle registration fees to fund bus service. If the measure doesn't pass, King County Metro will face cuts.

County officials expect about 38 percent of voters will return their ballots.

"Nothing would make us happier, of course, than to be really busy, handling every single voter's returned ballot," said Kim van Ekstrom, spokeswoman for the King County Department of Elections. "That's not always the case, so we do our best estimate of what the workload is going to be.”

People who haven’t registered to vote yet in King County can do so in-person at the Department of Elections office in Renton or at the county Administration Building in downtown Seattle. (Look up details for your county)

If you're already registered and have not yet received a ballot from King County, you should contact the Department of Elections.

Ballots must be postmarked by Election Day on April 22. You can also drop them in a collection box that day by 8 p.m. at the latest.
