This week's show includes music by Julian Priester, trombonist and educator who taught at Cornish College from 1979 until he retired in 2011. His professional career included touring and recording with many major jazz artists from Lionel Hampton and Duke Ellington, to John Coltrane and Sam Rivers, to Herbie Hancock, Dave Holland and many others. On this show, Julian Priester is heard in 2002 with some of his former students, Dawn Clement, Geoff Harper and Bran Vannoy. Julian now leads "listening sessions" as part of Seattle Jazz Fellowship, Wednesdays at 5pm at Vermillion in Seattle.

Also this week, Jay Thomas and Oliver Groenewald Newnet, Brad Shepik, Jared Hall, Tad Britton, Gail Pettis and the Daniel Hersog Jazz Orchestra.

Jim has been a fixture on Seattle radio since 1961. He was the host of Jazz After Hours on Public Radio International from 1984-2014. Currently Jim has been producing Jazz Northwest for KNKX since 1988. This weekly program focuses on the regional jazz scene and frequently includes performances Jim records on location for Jazz Northwest.
