New historical marker honors Seattle's first Pride celebration

The 50th anniversary of Seattle's first Pride celebration is now commemorated with a historical marker in Pioneer Square.

The gathering in June of 1974 featured around 200 people with a picnic, street dance and a rally. "Gay Pride Week" evolved into the Seattle Pride Parade, one of the largest such gatherings in the country.
