Shinzo Abe

The U.S. president and Japanese prime minister used their news conference to celebrate the allies' bilateral cooperation. The joint address marked an intermission in their multiday diplomatic talks.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and President Obama stood side-by-side at the site of the 1941 attack. Both leaders memorialized the dead and spoke strongly of the relationship between the two nations.

President Obama and Abe will visit the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor together later this month. The historic trip will happen weeks after the 75th anniversary of the Japanese surprise attack.
