The big dig along the Seattle waterfront that will build a traffic tunnel could also displace scores of rats and cockroaches. KOMO News reports that pest control experts say the rats will flee the massive construction project for quieter homes and food. That means buildings around the dig could see more rats.
Jeff Weier of Sprague Pest Solutions says similar rat displacements happened during the construction of the Seattle bus tunnel and the Columbia Center, as well as the Kingdom demolition.
KOMO reports Sprague Pest Solutions is launching a campaign urging business owners near the waterfront to start protecting themselves now. Their billboards say, "Save your building: Ratpocalypse is coming."
