Vikings battles against each other for a great show at the Viking Days celebration.

The Nordic Heritage Museum’s annual Viking Days festival celebrates its 27th anniversary this weekend.

The events on Saturday and Sunday offer unique Nordic entertainment, food, arts, crafts, merchants and real live Vikings right in Ballard.

Also featured will be pancake breakfasts on both days, a dinner concert with famous Barbecued salmon on Saturday evening and culinary treats from the five Nordic countries, including Swedish meatballs, Norwegian lefse, Danish æbleskiver, and a variety of Finnish and Icelandic goodies.

The Viking Encampment will be open all weekend. Vikings clad in authentic costumes will demonstrate aspects of Viking life such as weaving, spinning, woodcarving and fire-pit cooking. The Vikings will lead discussions about Viking life on both Saturday and Sunday, and visitors will also be able to view live performances of Viking battles.

Extraordinary, traditional folk music and dancing will be performed both days on multiple stages during Viking Days. High quality Nordic crafts will be for sale at an array of merchant booths on site, and kids can take part in hands-on crafts, try on Viking costumes and other activities during the festival.
