This weekend, KNKX is throwing a party in downtown Tacoma to celebrate our new studios on Broadway!
As part of the festivities we are presenting special programming to commemorate the day.
At 10 a.m. you will hear a special, two-hour episode of Sound Effect featuring all of our favorite stories from the South Sound. Listen as host Gabriel Spitzer broadcasts live from our new studios in Tacoma.
In 1984, 88.5 FM began broadcasting as a jazz and blues station. To honor the musical history of KNKX, from noon to 3 p.m., we will be connecting you to some of the top jazz and blues albums from 1984 to 2019. You’ll hear all of your favorite jazz hosts, including Dick Stein, Paige Hansen, Robin Lloyd, Abe Beeson, and John Kessler celebrate the music and our new home.
Our special programming will pre-empt our regular programming during this time. Snap Judgment, This American Life, and Radio Lab will return next week. Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me also will be pre-empted on Saturday, but can be heard on Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
