Treasured food memorabilia from the Leson collection

Dec 5, 2012

As you might imagine my Food for Thought co-conspirator Seattle Times Food writer Nancy Leson collects lots of stuff to do with food.  Menus, old recipe cards, handwritten notes, the works.

When she mentioned to me that she had recipes from "King's Queen Bea" I admit I had no idea who that was.  But I should have.

Long before Martha Stewart, even before Julia Child, TV cooking pioneer "Queen" Bea Donovan hosted a live show on KING-TV.    Nancy can now gloat over her collection of Donovan's recipes on official Queen Bea stationary.

All I have to brag about is my ancient loose-leaf of household hints I found in a thrift store years ago.  Who wrote all this stuff up I have no idea but if you want to know how to keep flies off of gilt picture frames I'm the man to see.*

So what have you got in the way of interesting or better yet, bizarre, cooking memorabilia?
