South Sound resident LaVon Hardison brought her quartet to the Art of Jazz concert for October at The Seattle Art Museum. Her quartet includes Eric Verlinde, piano, Osama Afifi, bass and Jeff "Bongo" Busch, drums and percussion.
The versatile singer grew up singing in the Baptist Church in Boston and later studied classical music and opera. Her performances reflect varied influences as she blends them in songs ranging from early jazz and standards of the Thirties and Forties to more recent pop hits in original jazz-inflused arrangements. This Olympia resident performs up and down both sides of Puget Sound and her most recent release is Come Together.
The Art of Jazz concert series is co-presented by Earshot Jazz and the Seattle Art Museum on the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 pm and are free and open to the public. The next concert in the series will be on November 9 and will spotlight pianist, singer and composer Dawn Clement who is this year's Earshot Jazz Festival Resident Artist, performing on several dates at different locations during the festival.
