Pianist Kenny Barron is no stranger to Seattle stages. He first appeared here in 1963 as a nineteen-year-old pianist with the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet at The Penthouse in Pioneer Square. Now an NEA Jazz Master, Kenny Barron brings his trio to play Jazz Alley next Tuesday and Wednesday and we'll hear the trio on today's episode.

Also on this week's show are Diane Schuur, and The Cookers, and all-star septet appearing next week at the 202 Biamp PDX Jazz Festival in Portland. Alex Dugale, Johnaye Kendrick and other regional jazz stars will be heard too.

Jim has been a fixture on Seattle radio since 1961. He was the host of Jazz After Hours on Public Radio International from 1984-2014. Currently Jim has been producing Jazz Northwest for KNKX since 1988. This weekly program focuses on the regional jazz scene and frequently includes performances Jim records on location for Jazz Northwest.
