Blessing Of The Animals At Seattle Church Includes Cats, Dogs And A Boa Constrictor

The Blessing of the Animals has long been a tradition in the Anglican Church in England and Catholic and Episcopal churches in the United States. It occurs on the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.

On Saturday,  October 4th, I attended the animal blessing at St. Paul's Episcopal church on lower Queen Anne in Seattle. It was held in the courtyard next to the church.

As you'll hear in my audio postcard, Reverend Samuel Torvend conducted the service with good humor, as all varieties of pets were in attendance.
