Remember the 74 cats (and one dog)found living in a cramped, filthy camper near the Auburn Regional Medical Center a couple of weeks ago?
The first batch of rescued felines is going up for adoption today at the King County Pet Adoption Center in Kent.
The plight of the kitties tugged at the heartstrings of many of us. Fortunately, says Regional Animal Services interim director Glynis Frederikson, this story will have a happy ending.
“People have been calling and visiting almost every day, wondering when the Camper Cats would be available for adoption, so we know that these will find wonderful homes.”
Eight of the cats are ready for adoption now. They're all males, and have special needs. Potential adopters will be fully informed of the cats' special requirements before deciding to take them home. The $30 dollar adoption fee covers the King County pet license, neutering, initial vaccinations, microchipping and a health exam.
Although the Camper Cats have drawn a lot of attention, Frederikson reminds us that there are many other animals at the adoption center that need loving homes.
The King County Pet Adoption Center is located at 21615 64th Ave. S. in Kent and is open seven days a week. Hours are 3 – 6 p.m. Monday, noon – 6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, and noon – 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
