Bellingham City Club
The Bellingham City Club October program will include the candidate race for Port Commissioner, a pro and con discussion of the proposition to expand the Port from 3 to 5 Commissioners, and Bellingham School Superintendent Dr. Baker will present his reasons for a new, additional school levy. In addition, we’ll highlight the Charter Review’s amendments to change how the County is governed. The Program Committee will have questions for all of our presenters.
As background, the Whatcom County Charter, which was adopted by voters in 1978, is essentially the county’s constitution, establishing processes for elections, powers of elected officials, and procedures for initiative and referendum.
