Gov. Ferguson wants to tap rainy day fund to help plug $2.3 billion deficit

Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson wants to tap the state's rainy day fund for $1 billion to help plug a $2.3 billion deficit. The remainder would come from reductions in state agency budgets and eliminating some tax exemptions for corporations.

He proposed the plan in his supplemental budget, which lawmakers will consider when they convene in Olympia in January.
