Seattle P-Patch community gardens celebrate 50 years

For 50 years P-Patches have been a staple of the Seattle landscape, breaking up much of the concrete in the city to provide space for neighbors to come together and garden.

KNKX's Freddy Monares spoke to some gardeners at the Beacon Food Forest to see what the open space means to them.

Freddy Monares has covered politics, housing inequalities and Native American communities for a newspaper and a public radio station in Montana. He grew up in East Los Angeles, California, and moved to Missoula, Montana, in 2015 with the goal of growing in his career.
