Jazz Trios In Seattle Then And Now Featured On Jazz Northwest

The Three Sounds was one of the iconic jazz trios of the '60s and played The Penthouse in Seattle on numerous occasions, documented in a new vinyl release on Record Store Day, November 25. These recordings have not been circulated since the original live broadcasts and debut this Sunday, November 27, on Jazz Northwest  at 2 p.m. Pacific on 88.5 knkx.  

Also featured is a present day New York piano trio led by Spike Wilner, who's part owner and manager of two New York jazz clubs, Small's and Mezzrow in addition to being a busy performer.  His current trio will play three dates in North Bend, Bellingham and Seattle, November 29-December 1.  Jay Thomas and Roberta Gambarini are also playing in Seattle clubs this week and included on this show.  

Jazz Northwest airs Sundays at 2 p.m. Pacific on 88.5 knkx and streams at knkx.org.  After broadcast, past programs may be streamed at jazznw.org.  Jazz Northwest is produced and hosted by Jim Wilke exclusively for 88.5, KNKX.
