Less than a week after the Canadian general election, teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg arrived in Vancouver, B.C., on Friday to speak.

The 16-year-old attracted thousands of fellow climate activists, many fellow teenagers and their parents, to the downtown core.

Speaking on the steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery, a common site for protests and movie productions, Thunberg says they are not a bunch of kids skipping school or adults missing work, but a wave of change that is unstoppable.

She also has a message for politicians, including those here in Canada elected this past week.

“And we will make world leaders act. We can and we will,” she said, amid cheers from the crowd. “And if you feel threatened, then I have some very bad news for you — this is just the beginning. We will continue.”

She addressed the throng for 11 minutes. She also marched through the city’s main business district, the latest instalment on her Friday strike against climate change.

Thunberg is from Sweden. According to media reports, she is travelling around North America in a Tesla 3 car, on loan from Arnold Schwarzenegger. It is not known if she will visiting the Puget Sound region.
