Bob Hammer performing at The Royal Room on May 9, 2018

Composer-arranger-pianist Bob Hammer had a long and successful career in New York and Los Angeles before coming to the Pacific Northwest. He passed on December 26 at the age of 92 and we'll hear some of his arrangements played by The Full Circle Jazz Ensemble on today's episode. Also featured this week are selections from Duke Ellington's Sacred Music played by the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra in concert. The SRJO is playing the Ellington Sacred Concert this Sunday afternoon at Town Hall in Seattle. Recent recordings by Alex Dugdale, Ann Reynolds and Cory Weeds round out this week's show.

Jim has been a fixture on Seattle radio since 1961. He was the host of Jazz After Hours on Public Radio International from 1984-2014. Currently Jim has been producing Jazz Northwest for KNKX since 1988. This weekly program focuses on the regional jazz scene and frequently includes performances Jim records on location for Jazz Northwest.
