Pianist and composer Horace Silver composed dozens of tunes popularized by his own groups on more than 40 albums over six decades. Many of his compositions have become jazz standards, and Michael Brockman assembled a concert program of "pieces of Silver" which have been arranged for big band. The arrangers include John La Barbera, Milt Kleeb, Chuck Israels, Nat Pierce, Ray Charles and others. This concert at The Kirkland Performance Center was recorded on November 7 and will be aired in two parts, the first part on this week on Jazz Northwest.

Jim has been a fixture on Seattle radio since 1961. He was the host of Jazz After Hours on Public Radio International from 1984-2014. Currently Jim has been producing Jazz Northwest for KNKX since 1988. This weekly program focuses on the regional jazz scene and frequently includes performances Jim records on location for Jazz Northwest.
