Rae Ann Engdahl

The sounds of public radio, jazz and blues have been the constant background soundtrack of Rae Ann’s house since she first moved to the Pacific Northwest in the early 1980’s—back when KNKX was KPLU. Though much has changed in the years since, her passion for the station and its importance in the community has only strengthened, and she’s honored to be taking more of an active role as part of the advisory council.

Rae Ann has dedicated most of her life to championing art, nature, and the public good. Now retired, she spent over four decades as a high-school English teacher and played a crucial role in introducing Eastside students to the power of literature and the importance of live theater. In her younger years, she spent her summers as a whitewater rafting guide, ad as a counselor for a wilderness education course that helped hundreds of at-risk youth gain back control of their lives by mastering outdoor skills.

These days, Rae Ann can often be found at a play or concert, in the pottery studio, or spending time with her children, granddaughters and friends.
