A 4.2 earthquake gave a shake to Lewis and Thurston counties just before 8 am this morning. The US Geological Survey reports the small temblor was centered between the town of Morton and Mossyrock. No injuries or damages have been reported.
The University of Washington's Bill Steele told KING 5 news the quake's epicenter was located 3 miles northeast of Mossyrock and at a depth of about 6 miles.
The quake was felt over a wide area, from Chehalis north to Tacoma and throughout the Olympia area. One Rochester (Thurston County) woman told KING 5 it felt as if her house had been picked up and dropped back down.
It was the second quake of the morning in the Puget Sound. At 5:30 am, a 1.9 quake was detected by seismographs near Langley, on Whidbey Island, according to the News Tribune.
