Centrum's Jazz Port Townsend offers both in-person and online workshops this year

The popular workshops and jazz festival at Fort Warden returns to in-person instruction this summer, with an option for online classes and performances.

Centrum's annualJazz Port TownsendWorkshop is open to instrumentalists and singers high school-aged and above.

This year, the workshop sessions and festival run July 25-31. In-person attendees are required to show full Covid-19 vaccination proof, and to wear masks when required by Centrum. The online version includes a variety of special topics sessions, masterclasses and the Faculty Presents concerts from the Wheeler Theater.

Approximately 200 participants will focus on developing improvisational skills in a small group setting, in addition to attending master classes and performances each day given by over 30 world-class faculty, all hand-picked by Artistic DirectorJohn Clayton.

The week culminates in a series of concerts in which all participants have an opportunity to perform.

The deadline to submit is April 4, 2022 for priority acceptance. After April 4 applications are accepted on a space-available basis.

The choice of in-person or online instruction will also be available for the Port Townsend Acoustic Blues Workshop, August 1-7.
