Highlights from an Art of Jazz concert by the Naomi Moon Siegel Band at The Seattle Art Museum, on the latest Jazz Northwest, feature the trombonist and composer in her original music with Wayne Horvitz, piano, Sean Woolstenhulme, guitar, Geoff Harper, bass, and Eric Eagle, drums.
Naomi Moon Siegel is a former Seattle resident now living in Missoula, Montana, but she still considers Seattle her "musical home" because of many musical associations which inspired new music while living here. She continues to perform in Seattle with Wayne Horvitz's Royal Room Collective and Syrinx Effect with saxophonist Kate Olson, among other groups. This concert was the first stop on a West Coast tour celebrating her new release "Live at Earshot."
John Gilbreath, executive director of Earshot Jazz, coordinates the Art of Jazz series in conjunction with The Seattle Art Museum. These free concerts are presented on the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The first half of this year's series is focusing on women composers, singers and instrumentalists. The next concert will feature singer LaVon Hardison on May 9.
Jazz Northwest is recorded and produced by host Jim Wilke and airs Sundays at 2 p.m. Listeners may also subscribe to the podcast at KNKX, NPR, Apple, Google or Spotify.
