Legendary drummer Elvin Jones was special guest in "Jones for Elvin" a 1998 recording session in Seattle led by saxophonist Steve Griggs.  Music from that CD is included in this week's Jazz Northwest as a preview of a performance by the group minus the late drummer at the Royal Room on July 15.  (Milo Peterson will play drums).

Other music on the program includes selections by Cory Weeds & Jeff Hamilton, Bill Ramsay Big Band, The Three Sounds and others.

Jim has been a fixture on Seattle radio since 1961. He was the host of Jazz After Hours on Public Radio International from 1984-2014. Currently Jim has been producing Jazz Northwest for KNKX since 1988. This weekly program focuses on the regional jazz scene and frequently includes performances Jim records on location for Jazz Northwest.
