A CD release party on Saturday and the final concert of the 30th annual Earshot Jazz Festival on Sunday are perfect reasons to celebrate women in Latin Jazz, and to mark the second anniversary of the debut of Saturday Jazz Caliente on KNKX!

Entremundos Quarteto CD release show North City Bistro Saturday 11/3 at 8pm  The new CD from Entremundos, O Caminho do Bem, features this outstanding quartet's interpretations of some of Brazil's most beloved composers.  Fronted by the charismatic vocalist and maestra of the triangle, Adriana Giordano, this show is certain to be a delight.

Jane Bunnett and Maqueque Triple Door Sunday 11/4 at 6pm and 8:30pm  What better way to end the weekend and the Earshot Jazz Festival than with the spirit of a young girl?  That's the rough interpretation of "maqueque," and this Cuban women's ensemble led by award-winning Canadian flute and sax player Jane Bunnett overflows with spirit and energy.

We'll hear music from Entremundos Quarteto and from Maqueque on the show this week, as we celebrate the 105th edition of Saturday Jazz Caliente!

Jazz Caliente airs Saturdays at 5:00 p.m.  The show is hosted by Robin Lloyd and produced by KNKX Public Radio.

Originally from Detroit, Robin Lloyd has been presenting jazz, blues and Latin jazz on public radio for nearly 40 years. She's a member of the Jazz Education Network and the Jazz Journalists Association.
