At the top of the Reichstag building is the Käfer Dachgarten, a fine dining restaurant with open air seating overlooking all of Berlin.
KNKX travel expert Matthew Brumley had lunch there on his last trip to Germany and spoke with manager Mario Novak.
“You see the whole city. You see East Berlin, and part of West Berlin,” Novak said. “It’s much better during the night time when you see all the city’s lights. I love this place.”
Directly below is the River Spree, and the city itself is dotted with parks.
Seeing the sights is important, but Novak says the real joy of being in Berlin comes when you take your time and relax.
And if you want to do that relaxing at the restaurant atop the Reichstag?
“Please give us a call before, or [reserve a table] via internet,” he said. “Do it as soon as you know you’re coming to Berlin.”
With the German parliament, or Bundestag, meeting on the floors below, you’ll need to be cleared through a little bit of security before you can take a deep breath and enjoy the view.
