Meet the Author: Seattle’s Coal Legacy at the Newcastle Library

For adults.
In the 1880s, Seattle became a major coal port in the United States and by way of coal, Seattle also became a center of industry and transportation including shipbuilding, steam engines and boilers.
Newcastle, Issaquah, Renton and Black Diamond were the major coal mines in the area. Author John Goodfellow tells the story of how Seattle transformed from a frontier town to the major city it is today.
