Seattle-bred, New York-based brass quartet The Westerlies created Westerlies Fest in 2018 to engage students and audiences in Seattle and give back to the city that raised them. For the 2024 Festival, The Westerlies welcome featured artists Samora Pinderhughes, and tilt.

May 9: tilt & The Westerlies

tilt exists in the space between improvisation and song, elastic and flowing, their music emerges from a shared love of words and experimentation. This Brooklyn-based collective brings together the voices of Isabel Crespo Pardo, Kalia Vandever, Carmen Q Rothwell. The intimacy found in the ensemble is apparent through their evolving chemistry on stage and their symbiotic improvisational approach. tilt premiered at bop dubu in Red Hook, Brooklyn in July 2022, with performances ongoing in NYC. tilt will be touring the West Coast in May 2024 to celebrate their debut album, something we once knew (Dear Life Records).

May 10: Samora Pinderhughes & The Westerlies

Samora Pinderhughes is a composer, pianist, vocalist, filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist known for examining sociopolitical issues and fighting for change through his art. Lauded as “one of the most affecting singer songwriters today, in any genre” by The New York Times and “a magical being” by Forbes, Pinderhughes is shaping new worlds through his art, his honesty, and his vulnerability.
