Washington Outdoor Women's Annual Outdoor Skills Fall Workshop
Women can learn the basics of survival, navigation, flyfishing, backpacking, native plant identification, and many other valuable outdoor skills at a 2025 September weekend workshop.
Since 1998, the mission of Washington Outdoor Women (WOW) has been to teach women traditional and relevant outdoor skills through hands-on workshops, and to achieve confidence and self-reliance while feeling actively connected to the outdoors.
Now in its 27th year, WOW is an outdoor education program of the Washington Wildlife Federation, a non-profit dedicated to preserve, enhance and perpetuate Washington’s fish and wildlife habitat through key outdoor education and conservation programs. This year the very popular annual weekend workshop will be held at Camp Waskowitz in North Bend (Sept. 12th - 14th), with registration expected to open on June 23rd.
Women who are experienced instructors will teach 17-different classes throughout the weekend on skills such as archery, fly-fishing, map & compass, foraging for first aid & medicinal plant use, wilderness first aid, wildlife awareness, knot tying & fire building, backpacking, gardening for wildlife, and more. This year will also include a course on hiking trails with a dog, harvest basket making and nature journaling. WOW instructors volunteer their time and expertise at this weekend workshop to help women confidently connect with the outdoors.
