Nonprofit developer buys Tacoma hotel to convert into a shelter

The nonprofit Low Income Housing Institute, added a 5th hotel to its portfolio in October. It’ll turn Tacoma’s Oasis Inn into a mix of permanent housing, shelter units, and medical recovery rooms for people currently living outside.

KNKX reporter Mayowa Aina explains the organization sees this as a long-term strategy for managing the homelessness crisis.
