KNKX Holiday Programming

Tune in to 88.5 this holiday season for special programming and celebration from your favorite NPR voices, Christmas music and holiday favorites, live holiday events and more with KNKX.

Friday Dec. 24th — Christmas Eve

3-5pm: Tinsel Tales: NPR Christmas Stories — Two hours of short stories and Christmas music. Voices from NPR's past and present tell stories of the season. Some tales are funny; some are touching; some are insightful or irreverent or nostalgic or surprising. You might recognize them from our broadcast archives - or you might fall in love with them for the first time.

5-7pm: Jazz & Blues — Featuring a healthy dose of Christmas music and holiday favorites. We’ll end the hour with a special reading of The Night Before Christmas from the KNKX news room. Hosted by Abe Beeson.

7-8pm: Jazz Night in America – Holiday Show

8-9pm: Holiday Jam Highlights — Recorded live in Seattle’s Town Hall with a live audience, students from Seattle JazzEd along with Northwest Favorites Pearl Django and jazz vocalist Gail Pettis.

9-11pm: Origin Records Holiday Special — Matt Jorgensen, host of KNKX’s New Music Review, digs into the Seattle jazz record label’s archive for some of the best holiday music to share.

11pm-12am: Jazz & Blues Featuring Christmas music and holiday favorites, hosted by Abe Beeson.

Saturday Dec. 25th — Christmas Day

A full day of Christmas music and holiday storytelling

5am–12pm: All Christmas music and holiday favorites to enjoy for you and your family’s traditions and celebration. Featuring new holiday releases form José James, Jeff Hamilton Trio, Kat Edmonson and Nora Jones.

12pm-1pm: Holiday Jam Highlights — Recorded live in Seattle’s Town Hall with a live audience, students from Seattle JazzEd along with Northwest Favorites Pearl Django and jazz vocalist Gail Pettis.

1-3pm: Origin Records Holiday Special — Matt Jorgensen, host of KNKX’s New Music Review, digs into the Seattle jazz record label’s archive for some of the best holiday music to share.

3-4pm: A Jazz Piano Christmas: 2021 — Join the Kennedy Center and NPR Music for this annual holiday tradition highlighting jazz pianists and their favorite seasonal music, captured live in concert with a small audience. The all- star line up includes Patrice Rushen, Gerald Clayton and Eric Reed. Felix Contreras hosts.

4-5pm: Joy To The World: A Holiday In Pink — The internationally acclaimed “little orchestra" Pink Martini bedecks the airwaves with festive holiday songs from across the globe. From timeless classics to rarely heard gems, hear a multi-denominational, multi-cultural jubilee, overflowing with enough holiday spirit to warm your entire family
