The KNKX Spring Fund Drive begins Thursday and ends Wednesday, March 31. For fans of our modern jazz show, The New Cool, this spring marks the early weeks of our new time slot. When you listen to the show Friday night from 9 to 11, please contribute what you can to support the show!
Host Abe Beeson will be joined for the first hour of this week's New Cool by Sunday Side Up host Ruby Brown. She always puts the "fun" in fund drive time, and will be with us only for the first hour of the show. The New Cool returns to regular programming at 10 p.m. Friday.
You'll hear exclusive KNKX studio session performances from ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro and Seattle's funky Polyrhythmics, along with modern stars GoGo Penguin, The Bad Plus, Zara McFarlane, and Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah. Also in the mix are recent recordings from the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, The Nels Cline Singers and a group that was introduced to the show by a New Cool listener, Japanese quartet Toconoma.
The New Cool is where you find the hottest talents in jazz today, who are finding new ways to create this music - fused with hip-hop, electronica, folk, soul, rock and more. The future of jazz is on KNKX every Friday night, and only exists thanks to listeners like you.
Please make your contribution now - the KNKX Spring Fund Drive ends March 31!
The New Cool airs Fridays at 9 p.m., hosted by Abe Beeson and produced by KNKX Public Radio in Seattle, Wash.
