The KNKX Holiday Jam and Live Broadcast returns, this time in downtown Olympia

'Tis the season!  This year's KNKX Holiday Jam Concert and Live Broadcast will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 7-8 p.m in a new location — the Historic Capitol Theater in downtown Olympia.

The free event features the Tumwater School District Jazz Band with students from Tumwater High School and A.G. West Black Hills High School.  Our special guests are the Jacqueline Tabor Jazz Band comprised of some of our favorite Northwest jazz musicians: vocalist Jacqueline Tabor, pianist Bill Anschell, bassist Clipper Anderson and drummer Mark Ivester. Jacqueline also will join the student band for a few tunes.

Our longtime Holiday Jam producer (and member of the KNKX Board of Directors), David Deacon-Joyner, Ph.D., is back this year. KNKX jazz host Abe Beeson is the master of ceremonies. The Holiday Jam will be broadcast and streamed live.

The KNKX Holiday Jam is free and open to the public. It offers festival seating with no tickets required, but early arrival is suggested as first-come, first-served seating is not guaranteed.  Doors open at 6 p.m. Stop by the KNKX table before the show to pick up station swag, and enter to win holiday gift baskets and event tickets.  Our pre-program begins at 6:40 p.m. with the concert/live broadcast commencing at 7 p.m.

KNKX is proud to partner again this year with Northwest Harvest on our Winter Drive (Dec. 5-6) and we're accepting donations of non-perishable food items in the lobby of the event.

The Historic Capitol Theater is located at 206 Fifth Ave. S.E. in downtown Olympia. Free parking is available after 5:30 p.m., in the bank lot across the street from the theater, in parking lots next to the theater/alley and at Fourth Avenue and Franklin Avenue.

KNKX will air an encore broadcast of the Holiday Jam concert on Christmas Eve at 8 p.m.
