After a second day of vote counting, an initiative that would limit class sizes in Washington state is still virtually tied.
The measure is passing in some of the state's largest counties, including King and Pierce counties, but it is failing in most other places.
The vote margin is so close, the secretary of state's office has put the class size measure on a short list of ballot items that could trigger an automatic recount.
An automatic recount occurs if the margin is 2,000 votes and less than one-half a percentage point.
The proposal would set lower class sizes at every grade level in Washington public schools.
