Pianist and composer Ann Reynolds has been traveling to Cuba since 2000, engaging with the music, dance, culture and the people. Return trips have fueled her creativity and she has now produced two albums of her original music inspired by her travels. She brought her quintet Clave Gringa to the Art of Jazz series at the Seattle Art Museum this month.
Ann Reynolds Clave Gringa includes Ann at the piano, Daniel Barry, trumpet, Kelsey Mines, bass, Steve Smith, congas and bongos, and Ricardo Guity, drums and timbales. The Art of Jazz series is produced and curated by John Gilbreath, Earshot Jazz and presented by the Seattle Art Museum on the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The concerts are free to the public. The Nov. 14 concert will feature the KO Ensemble led by Kate Olson, with Naomi Siegel.
Jazz Northwest is recorded and produced by host Jim Wilke and airs Sundays at 2 p.m. Listeners may also subscribe to the podcast at KNKX, NPR, Apple, Google or Spotify.
