Jazz artists from around the US will join resident musicians April 16-19 for the 12th annual Ballard Jazz Festival, and Jazz Northwest samples some of the music to be heard over the four-day event.
Festival artists featured this week on Jazz Northwest include Corey Christiansen, Jay Thomas, George Colligan, Thomas Marriott, Mimi Fox, and Sonny Fortune.
The festival includes a Brotherhood of the Drum on Wednesday, a Guitar Summit on Thursday, the Ballard Jazz Walk with 22 bands at 11 venues on Friday, a Saturday Jazz Brunch with a vintage Volvo / Saab auto show, and concludes with the Mainstage Concert headlined by Sonny Fortune and Chano Dominguez on Saturday night.
Next week (4/20) a concert by Kendra Shank and John Stowell as they begin a CD release tour at The Seattle Art Museum. Their new duo CD is "New York Conversations."
