Make Music is a free celebration of music around the world on June 21. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries. Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours onto streets, parks, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. Make Music Day Seattle includes: live performances throughout the city of Seattle, music lessons, Tiny Marching Bands, Flowerpot Music (a new collection of pieces by composer Elliot Cole and directed by percussionist Peter Ferry featuring an unlikely but beautiful percussion instrument: the flowerpot), Junkophonics (learn how to build and play fun musical instruments that you create from found objects), people of all ages and skill levels joining together to make music in large single-instrument groups, a Music Lesson Marathon, #MySongIsYourSong, and Window Serenades (sharing live music with isolated elderly people; select nursing homes are partnering to invite solo musicians to safely serenade residents from outside their windows).

King County Library System/Federal Way Library: Gansango Music & Dance Company--Teaching artists from Gansango Music & Dance Company perform dance and drumming from West Africa. Ukelele Startup for Beginners--Learn to play the ukulele in this welcoming class, presented by award-winning songwriter Wes Weddell. Go from zero to song in 60 minutes, no previous experience necessary.

Join Music Discovery Center as we join the global celebration of MAKE MUSIC DAY! Music Discovery Center is hosting a FREE/Open Mic Concert and first touch instrument play table for children. Quincy Square in Bremerton from 5:30-8 p.m.

Fest4All Make Music Day: live music on four stages with family-friendly fun activities at multiple venues at Uptown Shopping Center in Gig Harbor. Also, the Pizza Box Drum Line & Parade with pizza box drumming, percussion, and acoustic instruments.
